UCLA Faculty on Tour

David Ravetch
UCLA Anderson School of Management divider

David Ravetch has been a UCLA faculty member for many years…some say since Lincoln was president. There are rumors that he gave President Lincoln those theater tickets on that fateful night, but there is no proof of that. He is well recognized for his passion for teaching. David Ravetch teaches Accounting, Excel, and Personal Finance. He has won numerous teaching awards. He has been named Favorite Accounting Instructor, as voted by the accounting students, as well as, Most Recommended Instructor, as voted by students, campus wide. In the spring of 1995, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, Committee on Accounting Education awarded David Ravetch their Faculty Merit Award, which recognizes excellence in teaching. In addition to his love of teaching, David has a passion for music. He plays the piano, guitar, and clarinet. He has written many musicals: musicals for children and musicals about the public accounting profession which have been performed at the annual UCLA Accounting Awards banquets. For the past ten years, David has been doing pre-concert lectures for the Thousand Oaks and Oxnard professional orchestra, The New West Symphony. This enthusiasm for music is what brings him with you on this cruise. He will be sharing his love of music by talking about composers from the various cruise destinations, including Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, and Hungary…ooh la la..you will love the music and stories of the composers. David also has been an often-requested speaker for various functions. Out of all the UCLA faculty, he was chosen to be the opening speaker at UCLA Orientation, speaking to the incoming freshman class as well as speaking to their parents. He has been a keynote speaker for the annual gala for West Los Angeles Kaiser Permanente. He brings a lot of humor, personality, and information to all these events.
